Meet the doctors
Dr. Shelena Ask
Dr. Ask grew up in Lloydminster, Alberta then moved to Edmonton where she studied at the University of Alberta and completed bachelor of science. She graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2006. Dr Ask enjoys reading, yoga, cross country skiing, traveling and spending time with her husband and young son. She is happy to work out of both the Leduc and Wetaskiwin locations and has a special interest in contact lenses and vision therapy.
Dr. Donald Chin
Dr. Chin received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2000. Since 2001, Dr. Chin has been happily working at Drayton Valley Eyecare. In addition to practicing primary care optometry, Dr. Chin is available to treat ocular disease, foreign bodies, manage post laser refractive surgery cases, and pre /post cataract cases. He welcomes any questions you may have and looks forward to talking to you regarding your vision needs.
Dr. Carolle McCarron
Dr. Carolle McCarron grew up in North Coast of B.C.. She started her science degree at the University of Alberta, then went on to the University of Waterloo where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003. She and her husband have volunteered with Big Brothers & Sisters. Carolle enjoy reading, puzzles, needlework and spending time with her two rescued cats.
Dr. McCarron values educating her patients about their ocular and visual needs.
Dr. Jon Niblett
Dr. Niblett grew up in Redwater, Alberta and went to the University of Alberta completing a science degree. He graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. He has worked at Vision Care Plus since graduation and works in Leduc, Wetaskiwin and the Drayton Valley office. He is busy with his wife and two kids with a variety of activities including coaching hockey and lacrosse. He enjoys travelling with his family and sports of all kinds.
Dr. Donald LeDrew
Dr Don LeDrew is a native of Edmonton but proud of his Newfie heritage. His grandfather came to Medicine Hat in 1910 working on the CPR railroad. His father Ralph was an optometrist in Edmonton from 1938-1978.
Dr Don LeDrew graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1970. He has practiced in Edmonton, St. Albert, Honolulu, and Lethbridge before coming to Leduc in 1987. Dr. LeDrew has nine children and ten grandchildren.
Dr. LeDrew has developed a keen interest in geriatric eyecare. In addition to seeing younger patients every day , he thoroughly enjoys seeing and treating the many elderly patients who make their home in the Leduc area.
The practice grew in 1998 with the addition of Family Eyecare in Wetaskiwin and in 2001 we added Drayton Valley Eyecare. In 2009 we acquired Dr. Dennis Twerdun’s office in Camrose when he retired for health reasons.
Dr. LeDrew and his wife Trish live on a farm SW of Leduc with Jaimie, Logan, four dogs and ten horses.
